The ads weren't the ones bringing the calls

Example: an HVAC company spent most of its budget on Google Ads and assumed that's where its calls came from. After two weeks of tracking, most booked jobs came from Google Maps and the website, and one ad campaign hadn't produced a single booked job. The money moved to what worked.

Why tracking comes first

You can't fix what you can't see.

Most contractors know roughly how busy they are, but not where the calls come from. Without that, every marketing decision is a guess. Tracking answers three questions every owner should be able to answer in one minute.

01

Where did the call come from?

Maps, the website, an ad, Local Services Ads, a directory or a referral. Each one costs a different amount and needs different work.

What we do: a tracking number for each source, with your main number kept on your Google profile so your listing stays consistent.

02

Did it book a job?

A hundred calls means little if half are wrong numbers, sales pitches or price shoppers. What matters is booked jobs.

What we do: calls and forms matched to jobs in your field service software, or a simple tag your office adds after each call.

03

What did it cost?

Cost per lead and cost per booked job, by source and by service, show where the next dollar should go.

What we do: spend from Google Ads, Local Services Ads and our fees pulled into one report next to the jobs each one brought.

What's included

Tracking set up the right way.

We set up the numbers, tags and dashboard, test every one, and keep them working. You get answers, not raw data.

What usually goes wrong

Why most contractors fly blind.

Most accounts we check have some tracking, but not enough to make decisions. These are the most common gaps.

The problem

Google Analytics is installed, but it counts page views, not calls or forms.

Our fix

Key events for every call click, form and booking, tested one by one.

The problem

A tracking number replaced the main number on the Google profile and in directories.

Our fix

Main number stays on Google and listings; tracking numbers go where they won't confuse Google.

The problem

Ads and Local Services Ads report their own leads, so leads get counted twice.

Our fix

One source of truth that de-duplicates leads and matches them to jobs.

The problem

Reports arrive full of charts, but nobody knows if the phone is ringing more.

Our fix

A one-page report built around calls, booked jobs and cost per job.

How we measure success

Four numbers. Every month.

Tracking is the first thing we install for every client, before any SEO, ads or website work, so there's an honest baseline. From then on you see calls, forms and booked jobs by source, what each one cost, and what we changed, twice a month.

☎

Calls

Tracked numbers on your site, profile and ads, with source, duration and recordings, so you can see which calls became jobs.

✉

Forms

Every quote request and booking form, tagged by the page and the search that brought it in.

⌖

Map rank per area

A grid of ranking points across your service area, so you see the towns where you win and the ones still missing.

$

Cost per lead

What you spend divided by real leads, by channel. The number that tells you where the next dollar goes.

Questions

Call tracking questions.

Something else on your mind? Send a message and we'll reply within one business day.

Will call tracking hurt my Google ranking?

Not when it's set up right. Your main number stays on your Google Business Profile and in directories, so your name, address and phone stay consistent. Tracking numbers are used on the website, in ads and as an additional number where Google allows it.

Do I have to change my phone number?

No. Tracking numbers forward to your existing line, and your office answers the same way it does today. Customers can still call your main number.

Can you record calls?

Yes, if you want it and with a short notice at the start of the call where the law requires one. Recordings help with training and lead quality, and they're optional.

How do you know which calls became jobs?

We connect to your field service or CRM software where possible. If that's not possible, your office tags each call with an outcome in a few seconds, and we match it to the source.

What's the difference between this and Google Analytics?

Google Analytics shows what happens on your website. Call tracking adds phone calls, which are most of the leads for home service businesses, and job matching shows which leads turned into revenue.

How long does setup take?

Usually within the first week. We test every number, form and event before we call it done.

Do I own the data?

Yes. Accounts and numbers are set up in your name or transferred to you, and you keep everything if you leave.
